Athletes in some age groups may be given the opportunity to practice up and/or compete up an age group. This is at the coach’s discretion and by invitation only.
Age groups follow the Alberta Water Polo Association (AWPA) guidelines, based on birth year.

10U Co-Ed (2015-2019 birth years)
This fun program is for younger girls and boys. Players will learn the basic skills and foundation to play water polo, become stronger swimmers and learn water safety skills, while having fun. Utilizing programs like Swim Like a Dolphin, athletes will move through levels of skills and challenges, progressing their swimming and water polo skills.
Players registered in this team may join in Pup Fest games throughout the City of Calgary. More advanced players may be given an opportunity to compete in Calgary Sunday night League occasionally.
Practice 2 times per week.
12U Boys and Girls (2013-2014 birth years, experienced 2015 birth year)
This program is open to boys and girls twelve years and under (12U), focused on technical foundations. We encourage enthusiastic novice and experienced beginners to join and learn/upgrade basic skills foundation to play water polo better while having fun and compete within the City and Province. Players will develop water polo skills like ball-handling, passing, shooting, goal-tending and team work. Players will also learn water polo swimming skills. No previous water polo experience is necessary. Athletes should be comfortable in deep water.
Players registered with this Team would compete in City and Provincial League games. The goal for these players is to develop a love for water polo.
Practice 3 times per week.
14U Boys and Girls (2011-2012 birth years)
This program is open to boys and girls 14 years and under (14U). The aim is to teach and develop the advanced skills of water polo to prepare water polo players for competition (Train to Compete). This program is meant to encourage all players to learn the necessary skills-foundation to play competitive water polo. Skill development for advanced ball-handling, passing, shooting, goal-tending, teamwork and game strategies will be emphasized.
Players registered in this league would compete in City and Provincial League games. The goal for these players is to gain game experience important to their development.
Practice 4 times per week.
18U Boys and Girls (2007-2010 birth years)
This program is for youth 18 and under to continue to develop their water polo skills. Playing a Water Polo 4’s (WP4), a fast-paced version of four-on-four water polo allowing athletes to refine their skills. We encourage youth of all levels to join in this program.
Players registered with this Team would compete in city and Alberta Water Polo’s WP4’s Youth 18U League.
Practice 4 times per week.
